Carmen Mercado is the current President and Co-Founder of The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals – NYC Chapter; which was launched on July 9th, 2004. She also is a Licensed Associate Broker and the Hispanic Division Manager for Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate. She has been an active advocate for servicing the under served markets in Real Estate such as the growing Latino population with their Real Estate needs. Her passion to educate and help the Community with the entire Real Estate process in purchasing their first home set the pavement for the new Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate Hispanic Division. She has also dedicated herself as a Housing Educator for Community Development Corporation of Long Island a Neighbor Works America affiliate. She has participated in other speaking engagements, such as the Genworth Financial Seminar held in NY, First Time Home Buyers Seminar held at CitiBank in Brentwood , a Public Access Show "Su Conexión Financiera" in Long Island, NY, and an after school event for English as a Second Language Adult Program at the Bridgehampton School. Also, through NAHREP NYC, she has trained Real Estate Professionals on "Credit Smart Español", which is a combined initiative with NAHREP and Freddie Mac. Prior to joining Prudential Douglas Elliman in 2001, she worked for one of the world's premier Wall Street Discount Brokerage Firm. While working closely with the CEO of TD Waterhouse USA she had the opportunity to work with the American Red Cross of Greater New York, The HealthCare Chaplaincy, Fordham University , PENCIL Program, and The United Cerebral Palsy, assisting in the back office organization of fund-raising, community service activities and other events. Carmen has expanded The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals–NYC Chapter which now encompasses Long Island by founding a committee to capture the local needs with the assistance of local Real Estate Professionals. Her commitment and passion is to increase homeownership within the Hispanic community by providing a forum for both the consumer and real estate professional through educational seminars and empowering career growth for Hispanic Real Estate Professionals.
