Profile

Malla Wedberg joined NAHREP in late February 2006 as Director, Event Planning. In January 2007, she was promoted to Chief of Staff and Vice President, Event Planning and Operations in which positions she oversees NAHREP’s signature annual legislative and marketing events, leadership and regional meetings and overall strategic operations for the organization

A Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with over 17 years of conference management experience and 25+ in general management, Malla served with distinction at the volunteer-led, not-for-profit American Red Cross' Biomedical Services division, directing its leadership conferences and operations. During her tenure there she earned four prestigious national awards and served on two committees overseeing the Red Cross’ national travel program and its awards and recognition initiatives for Biomedical Services’ volunteers and paid staff nationwide.

Malla has worked as well in association management and earlier, with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Afghanistan, Washington DC and Mauritania.

Her prior experience also includes managing business operations at a K-8 school overseas, managing exports for a pharmaceutical multinational (Hoechst AG), and co-founding and overseeing an import-export company with international relationships.

Malla is a member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP) and the Network of Latino Meeting Professionals (NLMP) and was involved in refining the certification examinations required to obtain the CMP designation in the meetings and hospitality industry.

Indian-born, Malla was trained in applied art. She holds a real estate license in Maryland, where she and her husband, Jim, now live.
