Welcome to the online home of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. We are a mission-driven organization that is a passionate blend of business and advocacy for sustainable homeownership and the stability and economic empowerment it affords all Americans.
It has been 10 years since NAHREP's inception and our mission has never been more important. People of color have suffered great losses in the housing crisis and it will take years before some of our neighborhoods recover. Many Hispanic families have lost a generation of wealth. We are resolved to never let this happen again.
As the voice of Hispanic real estate, NAHREP and its 17,000 members are committed to champion changes that protect buyers and preserve the dream of homeownership for those Hispanic families who want it. Beyond duty, we feel it is a moral imperative to ensure that in the haste to reform the housing finance system, our nation's leaders do not close the door to homeownership for millions of families. Common sense measures that promote safe and sustainable homeownership must be favored over punitive regulations that challenge buyers and wipe out the service providers that support our community.
To restore the value of homeownership, we must first help our community overcome the false notion of a home as a fast path to wealth. Hearth and home must simply be the place where we raise our children and gather our families. Getting back to the basics will go a long way to healing our economy and reshaping the homeownership experience in the years ahead.
The year 2010 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for the housing industry. We, at NAHREP, intend to be at the center of the conversation as lawmakers map out the future. We bear this responsibility with honor and dedication on behalf of the families we so proudly serve.
Check back here from time to time to look in on our progress and our efforts to lead the housing recovery.
